Who elects the members? Or perhaps I should ask how are the members elected to that office?

The Commissioners are appointed I believe by the Home Secretary, or it may now be by the Ministry of Justice.

Not sure how I feel about that. I presume he would not have any part in the decision process, owing to conflict of interest?
I wonder if he still shares the view that Jeremy is innocent? I believe he did the ground work for the 2002 appeal.
The appeal court judges actually were more convinced of Jeremy's guilt the more they looked into the case....maybe Ewen was the same.......

I doubt if Ewen Smith has any role in the present case because there is a conflict of interest.  I am not sure how far he had gone on the appeal process before Jeremy Bamber dispensed with his services.  Mike Tesko has posted earlier that he thought Ewen Smith was doing a good job, but there appears to have been some issue in connection with ballistic testing which Jeremy Bamber was not happy about.  Mike Tesko has quite understandably declined to give any further information on the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Ewen Smith.  As far as Ewen Smith's current views on the case are concerned obviously I have no idea but he was actively pursuing the appeal and in view of the fact that there has since been additional evidence in support of the appeal there is no reason to suppose that he is any less supportive of Jeremy Bamber's appeal than he was when he was actively involved.  I imagine if he were to be asked about the case now he would decline to express a public view in view of his status as a CCRC commissioner.

Yes, I Imagined that to be the case ref; C of Interest.

Mind you, a previous member of  the CCRC, still on the panel as per the 2002 appeal, owned a production company which continued to ask for access to WHF even whilst the appeal was still in the high court. So I'm a little sceptical of where the boundaries on Conflict of interest lie with the CCRC.

Good idea to make him a commissioner, so he has to keep his gob shut. This case gets worse and worse.
Talk about trying to defend yourself with one arm up your back.

Cliff. I think that might be pushing the conspiracy line a tad too far......

Anyway, he didn't have to agree to joining and he'd already been sacked by JB anyhow, joining an ever growing list of ex JB solicitors.....

At least Ewen is a genuine qualified solicitor! Mr G de S, so I am told, was arrested for corruption? This was the guy going on TV saying JB was 100% innocent and he gets arrested himself! Lol

Some of this you couldn't make up!!

That is very interesting and I am surprised he was allowed to get away with that.  I have some concerns about the CCRC but I will refrain from expressing them at present, pending their final decision in this case.

I will refrain from posting for a while now, as I think we are chewing the cud.
Mind you if someone comes up with something different I will  jump on my horse.
I think Bob had a point when he said that we all seem to be pro Bamber, and was not adding to the debate.
I still believe that Jeremy is innocent, but we do seem to be regurgutating  everything.
It is not a debate when we all agree. For a while I will watch from a distance. I am not sure how long this will last because I am passionate in my belief.
Jackie you are a diamond, and are so certain with your convictions. I agree with most of your posts, you are a friend indeed to Jeremy.

I am most sincerely NOT a JB supporter. But I do believe in giving both sides of the argument respect and, so far, any debate I've had has been very respectful.
