Is interesting that this topic has come up.Funnily enough, whilst shopping at Tesco late last night,we bumped into two Essex Firearms Police. My husband asked them their procedure after an incident like the one at whf. They told us,that if they had had to fire their weapons in that situation at all, then it would not simply be a case of going back to base and logging everything. If any of THEIR weapons had been discharged, then they have to have a de-brief.I also asked them that if they had to discharge their weapons at all, would the public automatically be allowed to know about it,and he said "not necessarily, the decision regarding that, would be made by the chief constable".
