The main reason for all these so-called " misinterpretations " was that AE hadn't had a clue of what had been going on at WHF. She hadn't even known that Sheila and the boys were going to be staying there, for starters,so how would she have known, word for word, just what Sheila's health had been since Christmas 1984,which was the last time that any contact between them took place ?
Out of the blue,AE had received a letter from Sheila while being treated at the clinic/hospital in 1985,but because AE had no conception of the meaning of the letter and obviously found it of no significance, but at the same time would possibly have found it " odd " that her cousin had penned the words that " she'd found God ".
If AE had known that Sheila was being treated, then the letter would have had more interest and significance than it did and she MIGHT have put two and two together as most of us would have.
How ironic that a family conference had been organised regarding Sheila's mental health,on the night before the murders, via Pamela Boutflour and Betty Howie.
This had been part of an action report which had been drawn up by EP. ( Withheld material)
