The facts leading up to & following the Simon Hall confession

Updates have been made and as well as the full transcript of the CCRC meeting, SH's 4 page follow up letter has also been published.

It should be noted that both SH & his brother did not tell the truth regarding how I learned of the Zenith burglary. SH knew I had learned from his brothers ex girlfriend as did their mother - I spoke to her on 5th November 2012 and the INUK spoke with her a few days later.

So why weren't they being honest and why, between them, were they putting out erroneous information?

SH tells the CCRC I found out about the burglary from an ex?

His brother states the following on 12th April 2013:

"Incorrect, you found out from your ex but confirmed by my mum and I doubt anyone was talking about it. Have you ever asked yourself why Simon didn't tell you himself? You married him and he wasn't honest with you?"

So to be clear - blatant lies were still being told about the burglary discovery in April 2013.

"Within a day or two of the confession, Hall also replied to the CCRC (who had faxed the prison a legal document addressed to Hall). Hall met with the prison Governor who witnessed Hall signing the document. The document stated Hall wished the CCRC to stop all investigations in relations to his application as he had confessed to the crime. The CCRC document also asked if Hall wished his representative (Dr Michael Naughton) and wife to be sent copies, he said no.

Following the confession SH was placed on an ACCT, an abbreviation of "Assessment, Care in Custody & Teamwork."

Interestingly, I've found a forum that states 'Prison Officers across the UK are welcome here' http://prisonofficer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=7652 where they are discussing ACCT documents.

Worth looking at some of the comments on the forum imo.

What leaves me 'gobsmacked' with regards articles like the one written by Julie Price, is how people like her (and many others) failed to see what was staring them in the face - the guilt of SH.

The guilt of SH was what was played out "on a very public stage" yet Price, and a handful of others, used the confession as an opportunity to have a subtle dig at others or to publicise their own agendas.

To date, I am unaware of any of the miscarriages of justice organisations and those people associated with them having 'taken stock' or learned anything from the SH confession.

Here's another interesting fact:

"It was posted somewhere by you that Simon took the whole box of zyban. Which is an overdose. I cannot find the post now but I know I saw it and others have agreed. I wrote to Simon about it as I felt he must have been so low to do this and that was then he asked the prison to write to me and tell me he asked me not write to him anymore. You already know this I am sure. It was around the time Simon rang his mother to say he had seen the light and realised you were indeed mad and that he needed help but you soon got your claws back in him didn’t you."


SH did indeed telephone his mother in early April 2013 as I recall writing a letter to him regarding this after we'd spoken on the phone. I recall the call well as according to SH, his mother told him his brother had been in hospital the same time he had been following his OD in February 2013.

I wonder if the contents of that telephone conversation had anything to do with why blatant lies were then made up about how I learned of the Zenith burglary?

I'd not been in contact with my ex for several years, so why would they make a story up about this, and more importantly who instigated the telling of this story? Who was culpable of conspiring? Or were they all culpable?

And for clarity and to avoid any confusion or misinterpretation the above poster did not write to SH until around June/July 2013 time. It was some time after the newspapers had run the story on SH's OD in open prison conditions that they wrote to him. Even though the above post suggests they knew about the OD in April 2013? All very confusing I know but that was the entire point back then..
