It does show how extreme shock can distort consciousness. That poor man went about his morning routine even though he had appalling injuries before collapsing and dying. He seems to have had no awareness of his injuries or pain, which is not unusual in such a state of shock.

I think he felt a weight of expectation which he could never fulfil. The descent into murder included stealing his parents' laptops for money but unlike Nevill and the caravan park robbery Police were called. It just shows that money is a leitmotif throughout many of these crimes but there's no standard parenting mistakes one can put one's finger on.

Ah, that may be because unless the parenting has adverse affects on children -and all children react differently- they can't be called parenting mistakes. The same parenting behaviours can affect siblings in entirely different ways, which is where such variables as gender, age and temperament come into play. It's all a bit of a minefield, really.
