I am of the opinion that the phone call to Colin from DB contained rather more than we are told. Colin tells how he had never received such a "disturbing and evasive telephone call in my life".
From reading Colin's statements it is clear that he believed Sheila to be guilty for a considerable time after the murders. From his statement of 11/09/85 it is apparent that he still thought Sheila had killed everyone at this time. He believes at this point that the relatives were trying to frame Jeremy.
It is only by the time of his statement of 24/09/85 and after the Fielder story that Colin appears to suspect Jeremy.
I believe that during the "disturbing and evasive" call from DB, Colin probably let slip the existence of the photographs. The letter written to Jeremy by Colin whilst on holiday makes little sense in the context of Colin's statements. No arrangement was made to collect them and Colin is apparently unconcerned enough to go on holiday for two weeks the day after recovering one set but making no arrangement to collect the others. Quite why Colin believes that he, Sheila's ex husband, should be responsible for the slides is unexplained. The slides in question are also ones that Colin himself took of Sheila some years earlier in the WHF fields when she was 18?
By the time of his book, Colin had arranged to collect the slides the next day before going on holiday again.
Colin's accounts are, in my view, unreliable and increasingly, albeit understandably, self serving.
It is my belief that his statements of 7/8/85 and 11/9/85 are the most accurate of his accounts, before he was influenced by others with vested interests.
