Adam, the more I read of your views of what you think a mother/child relationship is about, the more I wonder about your own experiences. You inject a two way hostility -with such vehemence- into Jeremy and June's relationship that it sounds personal. I can understand June's sadness, maybe even secret disappointment, that neither of her children had "turned out" according to her dreams for them, but it's a -thankfully- VERY rare mother who shows hostility to her child.
It has been suggested that you have a problem with adopted children because you seem to begrudge everything June gives to Jeremy. I get the feeling that you don't believe adopted children should be afforded the same status as biological children and should learn to be grateful for scraps. Is this learned behaviour I wonder. Is there something here which touches a nerve?
