'Only I know what really happened that night'
« on: November 24, 2014, 09:07:PM »
Jeremy stood up and abruptly said to Liz Rimmjngton

This was before he became a suspect. Or rather when he thought he was 'watertight' and it was 'an open & shut case'.

What an earth could he mean ?

He obviously was not referring to events upon meeting the police at WHF.  As dozens of police also 'know what really happened that night'.

He could not be referring to the massacre as he was 'sleeping like a log' when Sheila went 'crazy'.

He told the police what he did after receiving Neville's call. So that is also common knowledge.

Any thoughts ?

He obviously meant that he was the only witness that his father phoned him to tell him that Sheila had gone crazy and has got the gun. There was unfortunately no one else who could verify his story. In other words he was not looking for an alibi. That is what his words appear to be saying to me at any rate.

Could also refer to the conversation between the family before Jeremy left after dinner. Only he would know.

Thank you Grahame. I just hope you're holding the hose if my house is on fire. I'll be safe.

For a minute there I thought Jeremy might be trying to discreetly boast about his master plan.

Don't worry Adam. If you house were on fire and you were in it I would be one of the first to rush in there and save your pet rabbit. ;D Oh and you of course.

So 'only he really knows' means he has not told the police, courts and appeal courts what happened at supper time.

No he means that only he knows, but although he told the police they don't really know. They only know what he told them.

another "scenario" liz was not being sympathetic and he was explaining that only he knew what he had been through finding out all his family had been killed.

Well Jeremy abruptly stood up and said this. A strange thing to do and say if Liz Rimmington was being unsympathetic.

Do you have a context? Otherwise it is just fumbling in the dark. But of course it is easier to twist words without a context.

'The family thought Sheila was going back to London. But I am the only one who knew she was going in the nut house'. Said Jeremy.

Liz rose and said she was going to bed.

Jeremy then said with a blank expression 'anyway, I'm the only person who knows what happened that night'.

Is this from Wilkes´ book? Sounds like it.
If you can dig this out from Lis´s statements, if I can see it in her words, I will discuss it, Not with quotes from an author who was not there.
