I always find it amazing that when police believe they have found the suspect they ignore all other evidence. In this case 1) The DNA that was found on the bed sheets. 2) The clump of hair found in the fist of the victim. This a very good example of how police carry on their investigations every day.

just started to read this and this struck me:

The horror of it all is only heightened by the fact that Noura has never shown any remorse, never shown any grief,” Dix said in the hearing

Now funnily enough I saw this in the jennifer Thompson book as well where the accused said words to this effect ;

Everyone was complaining I showed no remorse for what I had done - but how could I when I was innocent?

Know anyone else accused of the same?

lots of similarities - trial by character and relationship with mother
No forensics
The crime scene forensics were completely bungled
Another possible suspect not even questioned
possible evidence ignored
Family turned against her.
Family said she did not grieve.
Animal in crime scene - cat that the CSO said could have "digested" evidence
I love the police saying that the ex had an alibi because if you say you are asleep in bed alone how can you prove or disprove that?

There is however one question I did not see being answered - they said her cell phone had been used from the house in the early hours of the morning?

other interesting comments

If this was such a violent struggle, wouldn't you have expected Noura to have more wounds on her?" Schlesinger asked Helldorfer.

"No, because Noura had the weapon and she was the offender," he replied. "Jennifer was totally defensive, trying to block. She wasn't trying to attack

Also Noura did not testify and did not have many character witnesses, why , because the defence said the prosecution could not prove beyond reasonable doubt that he had done it - so they had nothing to defend. Sounds like a big mistake

just found the answer on the phone - and guess what another similarity - evidence withheld by the prosecution!

The evidence the court ruled was improperly withheld was a third statement given to the police by Andrew Hammack, a friend of Noura Jackson, whom she identified as a suspect in the murder and whom police considered a possible suspect initially.

Hammack told police in the statement that he was using the drug ecstasy the night of the murder and that he left his phone in the car of a friend that night.

The court found that the defense could have used that information specifically to impeach Hammack’s testimony that the night of the murder Noura Jackson called him and left text messages on the phone

yes - the uncle who said she had been asking about the life assurance the week before the murder- like she said - what a co-incidence.

So many similarities.

The re-trial will be interesting.

A tragic case of a young, physical girl who loses one parent and speculates as to how if would be if she lost another. A woman whom she could never emulate, who was far more beautiful a person inside and out,and who made rules which seemed perfectly reasonable to the impartial observer, yet who may have lost the rights over her daughter when the long hours culture necessitated by her high pressure job forced them apart,a rift which led to her slaughter. The mother learned the hard way that respect had to be earned, whilst her nonentity daughter will have to reconcile herself for the rest of her life to her bestiality and the relationship she could have had with her mother had she not fallen in with the wrong crowd  and been seduced by drugs, the quick fix culture and the easy way out as she gazes out of the window of her tiny prison cell.
