We can all make assumptions after a remark like that and I suppose the answer is down to whichever is your preferred stance on the case as a whole.
Being a " suspicious-minded " person,I think my answer to that would be obvious.
There are two ways in which to take the question. 1) That " settlement" would be straightforward. 2) That because Jeremy was alive, " plan B " would have to be established. In other words,it would HAVE to be him as the killer or bust !

AE asked the question before she could have known any of the details, for all she knew they could have been killed when Jeremy was there the previous day.
