By which time she may have had a VERY hard job convincing the police that she'd never known anything about it.

That is true. One month is something too though, she got away with that.

Certainly long enough to make some of us doubt her altruistic spirit ;D

And if, within the month she held her tongue, he'd put a ring on her finger, it's very doubtful there'd have been ANY statement.

'If'.

There was not really any chance of marriage.

Jeremy said the relationship had been in decline since xmas 84. That is 9 months prior to the massacre. He testified he was rarely visiting Julie. She didn't seem too bothered. Both of them were young.

There was no chance of marriage after the massacre. Jeremy keen to live the playboy lifestyle with buddies. Julie knowing Jeremy was involved in the massacre. And being whisked around everywhere by Jeremy.  Probably without being asked. Taking her away from her studies.

Jeremy being heard asking another woman out was the final nail. And perhaps a fatal mistake. Thread already created.

Which of course creates a mystery as to why he would reveal to her every step of his murderous plan don't you think?

Jeremy would tell anyone that would listen about the raw deal his family gave him.

Julie was the closest person to him, so would have been on the receiving end of his rants. Even when the relationship was in decline.

It does seem strange that Julie should be rang at 3am & 5am on the night, when the relationship had been in decline for 9 months. But Jeremy made the calls & testified the relationship was in decline.

I suspect Julie being whisked over was so Jeremy could keep an eye on her. Ignoring her and she may talk.

Threads already created on why he told her and was whisked over.

Jeremy! Jeremy!! Jeremy!!! This isn't about how it was for Jeremy. It's about how it was for JULIE and what SHE hoped would happen, but a whole month passing without any sign of a movement towards him making permanent and formalizing their relationship may have contributed to her decision. It would never have crossed her mind that being "whisked around everywhere by Jeremy" to places she couldn't afford to take herself to, wouldn't automatically lead to a wedding ring. As for being taken her away from her studies, as Mrs Bamber, there'd have been no need for her to work.

Caroline if you read JM's statement she revealed to the police apparrently every step of his plan to kill his parents. Indeed he was convicted upon her testimony. I just expreseed surprise that if there relationship had been breaking down since 1984 as Adam says it was, then how odd that he should reveal these things to her in 1985? Simples.

Adam according to you their relationship was breaking down since 1984. Therefore do you not think it strange that he should tell her almost everything about his plan to kill his parents. Apparently according to you she wasn't the closest person to him? Indeed according to you they were not bothered if they did not see each other for weeks? Yet his conviction was based almost entirely on her testimony. Doesn't it seen to you very odd that he should entrust his murderous plan to a woman whom he was planning to break up with? In fact it was very stupid of him if that was the case.

But  she kept saying that she knew he had done it - the hitman theory only ever appeared in Sept after the murders . On the night of the murders she thought he had killed them himself. But as I said she seems to contradict herself a few times.

Someone had to take the blame at the time because everyone was literally in the dark as to who it was ?

Not according to me. It is what Jeremy testified.

When the relationship was strong he was telling her of his hatred and resentment. So no doubt continued doing so during the 9 months the relationship was in decline.

I have never said Julie was not the closet person to Jeremy. She was. He had complete contempt for his family. I have also never said they were not bothered about not seeing each other for weeks.

I did say that Jeremy 'testified' that the relationship had been in decline since Xmas 84 and he was rarely visiting her. Then suddenly needing her 24/7 after the massacre.

There was no chance of marriage after the massacre. Or even before as things were fizzling out.

Jeremy had the resources to be a playboy and drug dealer. And boy was he going to do it. Visiting Amsterdam for some drugs, and playboy mansion St Tropez. Brett was much more of a laugh than Julie.

I do not think Julie was desperate to marry Jeremy. She was only 20 and had turned down June's offer to buy a property.

If she was keen to marry him and heard him ask another woman out, that may have been a clincher in approaching the police. But it is just as likely that a woman scorned will tell the truth. Thread already created.

I was commenting that it was a silly thing to do in telling her all his plans that he had if the relationship had been cooling off since 1984. It is a logical thing to question no matter how you try and get out of it. No one but no one would tell someone who was not as close to them as they once were their complete plan as to how they were going to commit the perfect murder. It was not Jeremy's testimony that convicted him it was as JM said herself her testimony that put him where he is today.
