Mike, why are you writing about Padre Pio?

I know the village in Italy where he lived until his death, San Giovanni Rotondo. I had a boyfriend from there. When we visited, everybody talked about Padre Pio, how fantastic he had been. (Not my boyfriend though, he was not religious.)

Hi Alias,

After leaving the stone circle at Kenmare, we were all walking back towards the town, and it was a gloriously sunny day. I was lingering slightly behind everyone taking photographs, and I noticed an old man walking toward us from the direction of the town centre. What struck me as being odd at the time was that the man in question who was wearing a hat with a brim, also was wearing a scarf, and what appeared to be some sort over long coat. Anyway as the man came to within talking distance he asked me if I was enjoying myself, and had I enjoyed my visit to the stone circle. So, I stopped and chatted to him to several minutes. We exchanged comments about how wonderful the weather was, and the beautiful surroundings. He ended up telling me a little bit about the history associated with the stone circle, saying that they were built by the druids. He looked so familiar, I thought I already knew him, but in the heat of the moment I could not quite place him, or name him. As we parted company, he wished us a pleasant visit to Mollys place, Ladies View, Dingle, and Blarney Castle. I thanked him, and set off towards the town trying to catch up with the others, but I had only gone half a dozen steps when I suddenly realized that he was the spitting image of someone I knew. At that precise moment I turned around to take another look at the man I had been talking to, but there was no-one in sight. At this point I became puzzled, I looked all around me, but the old man was gone...

There was insufficient time for him to have walked off in any direction out of my sight before I turned around, he had simply vanished into thin air - I got goose pimples, walking off in the direction of the town, I will never forget that brief meeting with that old man, he was the spittin' image of Padre Pio, the miracle man, Saint...

About five years previously, my sister and brother in law, holidayed in Kenmare, and they purchased me a silver Padre Pio pendant, which I normally wore on a silver chain with a diamond encrusted platinum cross around my neck. However, it became detached just before we came away on this latest occasion, and my sister pointed out to me the shop in Kenmare where she had purchased it for me before we had gone up to see the 'Stone Circle', which obviously brought into my mind, Padre Pio prior to visiting the stone circle. I believe that this was why the old man seemed familiar to me when we met, I thought I knew him, but in the heat of the moment I could not put a name to him. I now think that what took place was a 'Spiritual Event', something that many of us have at sometime in our lives. I certainly felt uplifted after the experience, and the sun shone everywhere we went during that week...

Yes, I am, and I have previously visited the Vatican city in Rome, viewed 'St Peters' remains, after queuing for hours, I love Italy, I hope to revisit soon, health and financial circumstances permitting...

Lovely, Mike!
I once had a very strange experience. I was at Geysir, Iceland with my two sisters. We stayed for a while looking at the warm water being hurled into the air, then went back to the car.
Suddenly I felt almost weightless - as if I was walking on air about one meter up in the air. It felt so good, and I had a feeling of intense happiness! The strange thing is that both my sisters had the same experience.
Maybe just the energy of the area, it is filled with activity; but it felt super-natural.

We were in Rome this spring - also went to the Vatican, but the queue was too long for us to go inside. It was hot as He!!

No, but visited Kilarney, saw the ponies and traps working around the fabulous lakes, passengers eyes filled with wonder and joy, warm late summer breeze helping to create magical moments, in such idyllic surroundings...
