Raffaele is starting to blame Amanda for his conviction. It will be interesting what he will tell in the future - guess he is not pleased that Amanda sits in America, and he alone has to take the heat. I think he will say more soon.

Do you think he will be offered a deal? Testify against Amanda and we will reduce your sentence to time served!

In Orwell's Novel "Ninteen Eighty Four", Winston Smith betrays his girlfriend when they threaten to put a box full of rats on his head. Everyone has their breaking point.

It is very common that people throw each other under the bus in situations like that - looking out for number one.
Nugnug - I am not sure how it works in Italy. In any case, this case is special, it has worldwide attention. The Italians are being critizised for messing up the case (rightly or wrongly, or rather rightly AND wrongly). I don´t think they like that at all.
They could make a deal with Raffaele for a reduced sentence for testifying against Amanda at the next appeal - and in the process clear their name. Maybe.

Alias has suggested that Raffaele might crack under the threat of twenty five years in jail. Well, if he did, he would have to gain something from it.

Even if you think he’s guilty it makes no sense to cave in without a carrot being offered. He would only conceivably change his story if they offered to change his sentence. I don’t think he will, but you never know what they might do to him.

as they have allready found them both guilty i dont see why the authritys would want to cut a deal now it would most if they did.

i mean they dont really need him to give evedence against whos allready been convicted.

but as there still could be another appeal - I think they really want Amanda - she seems to be the main target - so it would not surprise me that they would try that angle.
He was not really a "boyfriend " as they had only been going out for days - so I think if he was going to implicate her with definite evidence he would have done it by now tbh.

The Italian court system is like this, (OMGosh, difficult to explain, I will talk about THIS case only!)
First trial: they were found guilty
Second trial (appeal from defence): they were found innocent
Third trial (appeal from prosecution): they were found guilty (this is where we are now)
Fourth trial (appeal from defence): they will be found .................
Fifth trial (appeal from prosecution: they will be found.................

So there is still room for bargain as jansus pointed out. Perhaps Raffaele has had it with all of this, pleads guilty, throws Amanda under the bus with damning testimony, gets a reduced sentence in return, gets out in a few years.

P.S. forgot to say that the last trial, the fifth, is FINAL. No more appeals.

If they are found guilty in the next trial (the fourth), I guess it will stop there, so Raffaele must be panicking, seriously.

if the proscuters are prepired to do a deal it does not look like there very confidant about winning the 4th trial.

tbh - I can understand why Amanda did not go back for the last trial- however in this day and age it surely would have been possible for her to have been questioned ( if needed ) by video link . I think that would have been better for her than writing the letter.

Well, they lost the second, so that would make sense.

The prosecution - yes, I think that is a given and pretty much automatic.
