Maybe I am dim, but I cannot see the significance of whether Jeremy did or did not say that there were loaded guns in the house (he could have said there COULD be loaded guns, then later when none were found, he rationalized. It was a stressful, nerve wrecking situation outside that house - also for Jeremy!) Wouldn´t it have been enough with one, which btw was the reason for the police responce to the house.
What would Jeremy achieve by attempting to delay the entering of the house? After all, he called the police himself!
I am confused as to what ralf and no-bits are trying to prove with this.

He also didn't say they were "definitely" all loaded, he said they were "probably" all loaded.

Hi Alias, think the idea is that Jeremy had killed the family much earlier so if the police went into the house too soon they would realise the family had been killed  well before the time of the phone call Jeremy claimed Nevill made to him around 3.15 am.  I would think for someone who had planned the murders for at least a year it was pretty poor planning..

Agian Jeremy chancing on a very wobbly ground to achieve what he wanted. It sound illogical and far fetched to me.
Why would he call the police in the first place if he had worries about them entering the farm too soon?

It could hardly have been 10:15 he phoned Julie from home at 10pm.  When was the Dickinson report done? I suppose it was after the trial its self.   :-\ :) :) :)

Oops have you cocked up again?

Why did JB mislead the police into thinking there were multiple loaded firearms in the house?  :P :P :P

I grant that it was said in the report but why did the raid team not put what Adam's should have told them in their original statement. Why leave the most important bit out?   :P :P :P :P

It wasn't important to the CPS' s case, which was the reason the statements were compiled.

It is obvious, although non-material, that the raid team were briefed prior to entering.

Several inconsistencies with the above report, Jeremy didn't use the word  'berserk' - no one would say that they 'heard' a rabbit and he didn't say he left the gun on the kitchen table.

It's just a review carried out after the original trial, I forget the actual date now but it was the late 80's I think.

As the new happier Caroline says, there are a number of 'minor' inconsistancies, but it sets out the crime and investigation based on the information known/accepted by the police at the time.

I was happy yesterday!!  ???

The trouble is where 'inconsistencies' lie, it makes you wonder (it certainly does me) where they end and the factual happenings begin. He may have used Adam's statement to write the passage in question and if Adam's statement isn't accurate, he's just repeating the mistake. Jeremy may have said he left the rifle loaded - maybe he did, perhaps he later thought about the implications of leaving it loaded and so changed his story (he certainly isn't alone there!!). Of course in a house full of guns, he didn't need to mention the rabbits, the rifle or any of it and remember, Sheila's finger prints were found on a shotgun.

Hey don't worry, we all have our grumpy moments, some more than others, but we don't hold that against you.  :)

Obviously inconsistencies from the police are simply that, very minor and have little impact on anything. Although inconsistencies in JB's evidence are likely to be manipulation of the truth designed to quite literally get away with murder.  :P

I suspect that inconsistencies are part and parcel of any investigation, particularly one carried out so poorly during the initial stages.

I'm sure they are but when you omit or add things on purpose in order to gain a conviction, it's a little more serious. Police are there to gather the facts, not make a judgement  ;)

I'm always in a good mood!!  :P (for the most part)
