I guess the old adage of "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything" comes into play for me.

Although there is no actual definitive proof available in public circles, you will not find many Liverpool / football fans shedding tears, following Margaret Thatchers death given her role in the disgraceful hillsborough cover up. She knew far more than she let on as is revealed in briefings from Bernard Ingham and her cosying up to the senior police figures. It didn't help that she apparently had a strong dislike of the North too. When the Taylor report was due to be published she was very concerned with criticism of the police which she sought to avoid. This despite the fact that when the hillsborough report was finally published last year the police were absolutely castigated.

Joanne1  what system is fair to one will not be to others.  My husband and I live in a large house so pay large Council Tax neighbours live in a lesser house 6 of them and pay half of what we do they use more water have more waste use the roads more is that a fair system. Because we have worked hard to achieve what we have we are being penalized for it.  Poll tax suited us.  I can see your point though and I think Council Tax would be better based on a system more like Income Tax.

I can assure you my father worked hard for everything we had too, he did work 7 days a week.

Do u not think that Margaret thatcher should be criticised for her disgraceful actions and response post hillsborough? Whether she is alive or dead I still think her response went beyond the pale which I'm sure you would agree given the evidence which has come to light?

Joanne1  I did not imply or certainly did not mean to imply that your Father did not work hard.  All I was saying the poll tax system suited some people but not others and it will never be possible to please everyone.

Not just for Hillsborough! But that's certainly part of her shame.

Margaret Thatcher quite openly was best buddies with Chilean dictator and fascist, Augusto Pinochet. She declared that this butcher of his own people was a "true friend of Great Britain." She called Nelson Mandela a terrosrist. I just can´t see past things like that and have a hard time warming up to this woman, dead or not.
Feel for her family and loved ones, of course, that is another thing, but I know her as a politician, not as a private person. She made her choices, and I don´t like most of them.

Tyler, spot on about the oil. They always keep quiet about that, call it "peace keeping operations" and blahblah, but it is all about money and power, power and money aka oil in many cases.
