Far more damning than the defrauding of an impersonal institution was the deliberate robbing by Jeremy of his own family business, thereby signalling to anyone who would care to reflect on the matter for a few moments just what he really thought of his family and to what lengths he would be driven to maintain the lavish lifestyle to which he had become accustomed, yet which was increasingly beyond his means.

Here is the dodgy pocketbook inside which the crooked police officer (DS Jones) rewrote his notes, excluding details of his visits to see witnesses like Dovey to persuade him not to press charges againgst Mugford and friend, the thief...

Julie's cheque fraud proved that she was a dishonest person. She alleged in a statement (a legal document) that she went to the bank to resolve, alone,of her own free will which proved her a liar.  She then made 25k off the back of 5 peoples deaths. And she was the prosecutions star witness?!!

How is it MORE damning? It takes a lot more cunning and 'neck' to defraud an 'impersonal institution' - if caught the consequences are that much more severe!! However, what is damning is that she talked her friend into using her cheque book - she always seems to make sure she is one step back from the actual wrong doing!!  ;)

I find it so telling about her that she claimed she committed the check fraud to please Jeremy... who knew nothing about it, had not a thing to do with it! That is a trait of a narcissist and possibly sociopath: they unfalteringly blame others for anything and everything they themselves do, it is NEVER their fault.

We don't know whether it was Julie or Susan Battersby who was behind the cheque fraud which I am not excusing, but everything points to it being a spur of the moment folly in order to impress and keep in with Jeremy, whom they knew would turn a blind eye because he was the most crooked of all of them, having returned from the Antipodes burglarizing a jeweller's shop stealing two Cartier watches and filching the diamonds from the rings of unsuspecting passers-by with his friend Scooter in tow.

I repeat: Jeremy had NOTHING to do with this, yet he is blamed for that too!!!

I'm assuming that journalists and writers do their research before they put pen to paper or they should be sued by the individuals concerned. Those particular incidents mentioned above are stated in Claire Powell's book.

Julie did actually blame Jeremy for her committing the cheque fraud didn't she.I remember reading that. She also blamed him for  allegedly being raped whilst in France, because he wasn't there to protect her!
