steve uk  I may ask that question too why did'ent Julie walk away knowing what his evil plans were she was not chained to him.  It is wonderful that people commit themselves to Charitable causes but as we have seen quite recently not always for the right reasons.

She did walk away, but far too late. This may be the subject of a new thread: "I fell in love with a psychopath"..

A house divided against itself cannot stand;charity work is charity work for goodness sake. At one point in the relationship Julie asked Jeremy the simple question "why don't you just walk away?" Have the Jeremy supporters ever thought about this seriously? Jeremy's answer was "because I have too much to lose" which can be interpreted in different ways, but I imagine Julie as being quite content with Jeremy's company without money, despite what members say on this site to the contrary.

Good Evening Steve. I believe we agreed last night, albeit for different reasons, that Julie was impressed by the Bambers and their lifestyle. It would be extremely difficult to divorce Jeremy from a situation that money formed such a large part of. Rather like the suggestion that Diana only loved Charles because he was PoW, don't you think?

Diana grew up reading the romantic novels of her stepgrandmother Barbara Cartland and thought that once she married Charles love would conquer all. Julie to my mind had possibly grown up among the school of hard knocks, though not irretrievably damaged I feel, yet with a similar feeling to Diana that she wanted to make a relationship work.

I feel certain than all women want a relationship to work when the "significant other" appears to be offering which had been part of their earlier dreams. It may be that Julie had come from a family who had needed to work very hard for everything they achieved. To find herself going out with someone from a family for whom life was very comfortable, where nobody talked about where the next penny was coming from, must have seemed like all her Christmas's and birthdays rolled into one. I think it was more than love alone that attracted her to Jeremy.

Women aren't all dreamy airheads Steve - some actually are quite deliberate in their actions. I think Julie was quite at home at Goldigger - Oops!! I meant Goldhanger and had it not been made perfectly clear that Jeremy didn't share her idea of venturing up the aisle together, she would have clung on to the bitter end - in fact, she did!!

Goodness me Steve,,There's no comparison in the breeding stakes. I wouldn't have lumped Julie with the late Diana. Two entirely different personas in every way.

No I think she fell in love before she knew Jeremy's background. She subsequently turned down an offer of a flat by June. She was a Young Urban Professional like many of us at the time and has made a good account of herself in Canada however sour that fact makes some members here.

Absolutely Caroline. As I said yesterday, had Jeremy asked her to marry him, he wouldn't have needed to ask twice. She would have married him in a heartbeat.

april/caroline

and Mr & Mrs Jeremy Bamber would have lived at WHF and he would never have stepped inside a prison and would have spent his life doing what he loved best farming and Julie could have been the local Lady of the Manor like in Midsummer. ;D

That's not how it worked out. Jeremy begged Julie to return to Goldhanger during the trip to Pevensey, but they really didn't have so much time alone together after the murders as Brett Collins was in the picture though I'm unsure as to his role. If Jeremy was determined to dump Julie why was she invited into the Maida Vale flat at all,and why did Jeremy feel obliged to lug a settee to Julie's new digs at Hither Green?
