bigdave  Lugg will not have fallen out with you he is too kind and forgiving to be like that.  If you upset him and you said sorry he will be cool.  Don't worry, ;)

Statement from Robert Radcliffe.

Cheers for that Hartley! They didn't ask him if he 'zeroed' the sight. And I wonder why he was never asked to be a witness?

He does refer to previous statements though. Maybe further insight is contained in other statements.

I think this zeroed thing is a bit of a red herring, the rifle would have been zeroed in by somebody, it doesn't really matter who it was. Even if the gun shop did do it, it's likely it would have needed to be repeated at some point in the 9 months since purchasing it (depending on use).

Would there be any point in calling him as a witness?

Thank you OnceSaid, it appears more difficult to zero than I first thought.  I wonder why the gun shop did not have these facilities available back then.... :-\ :) :) :) :)

I don't know whether they did or not, but clearly it would not be unusual for them to do so. Pargeter was very familiar with .22 rifles and entered competitions, if it was so absurd for the shop to zero the rifle then he wouldn't have suggested it.

Either way, he simply said that he thought JB or NB had mentioned to him that the shop had zeroed the weapon. So he either thought correctly or was mistaken. It was unusual to remove the sight without good reason, of course there may have been a good reason that we are not aware of.

They delivered the rifle to WHF, could it have been zeroed in then?  :-\

Possibly not but I think it does put paid to the idea that they wouldn't have been removed.
