Wonder who that could be. Do you think that all killers should be sent to an open prison first before they are set free?  I think freedom should come only when there is no real harm to the general public.  IE disability, Terminally ill, old and infirm.  Or if it is proven they were innocent.  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I personally do not concern myself too much with proven convicted murderers. I don't give much thought as to whether they are happy or not.

I use the word proven advisedly. I did realise what I wrote. But of course that particular man was guilty because he himself I believe admitted it? The MOJ'S that we may support, as I understand it prove that this is the general rule. For they we consider to be the exceptions.

Hey Lugg - most MOJ victims don't ever make it to open conditions!

They refuse to do the courses therefore are held in closed conditions; whether it be A/B or C catergory..

Did you know that women here in the UK only have closed and open prisons?
They are going to close one of them in Hockley. Bullward Hall.

Also, there are prisoners who are sent to open conditions and ask to return to closed conditions because they cannot cope with the way in which an open prison works.

An example - in closed prisons, prisoners are regimented - like the army.

If you aren't up early in the morning you get 'a nicking' - if you are late banging up, you get 'a nicking'... etc etc..

It's all based on an evening curfew and trust in open conditions.

I can assure anyone who may be reading this that D-cat prisons are not easy for any lifer!! whether innocent or otherwise!
What's a nicking Stephanie?

Lugg..Bullwood Hall in Hockley has already gone,it closed last week. But hadn't been a womens prison for around the last three years. The prison housed male immigrants and then male young offenders.

Patti...

I know my posts can be quite direct, so please don't take offence in anyway - it isn;t meant to cause offence etc...  ;)  :)  :)

Do you have any idea what it does to anyone being locked up in a closed prison for several years?

These people become institutionalised...

If, for example, we were to release a 'convicted killer' straight into the big wide world, straight from closed conditions - they probably wouldn't survive long...

The idea of sending prisoners to open conditions is to help with the rehabilitation and to help them enter back into society.

I know we hear stories of prisons being like holiday camps or that they have computer games and TV's???

But it isn't like what you think Patti...

I agree with what you say 100% I was merely asking Luug what he thought.  The release of murders are inevitable at some point and yes I do understand what it may be like for them in prison.  I also understand how it must feel for the loved ones of the victim.  I agree that open prison rehabilitates, it makes sense.

Each case is different....and yes you can be as direct as you want too, but no shouting lol  :) :) :) :)

As to the release of murderers into society. We are rather dependent upon psychiatrists on that one I'm afraid. I believe many of those should be locked up personally as they have deemed certain murderers to be safe to be released and they have gone on to kill again.
I'm afraid I don't know to be frank? It depends upon a whole lot of things and I am no expert. But I believe that some murderers crimes are so great that they should never be released.
It is only a recent thing to treat prisoners for rehabilitation. But that was not the reason they were sent to prison for. They were sent to prison for their crimes. What the prison authorities do with them after that, whether it be rehabilitation or whatever is up to them.

Kingston prison in Portsmouth, which is a listed building will also be housing immigrants apparently?

So these prisons aren't really closing, just making room for our overseas visitors.
Mrs.Hall..........they've already used Bullwood Hall for immigrants and then it went over to young offenders. It is now closed, maybe they will pull it down?
Think the nearest womens prison from here now is Holloway.

Iused to deliver stuff there in my younger days when I lived in Southend. All the girls used to hang out the windows calling out stuff. Like St. Trinians it was.

Question: If this prisoner has a super injunction to remain anonymous, how come the family of the victims know about him? He protests that his human right for anonimity should not be infringed. But the victims family spokesperson comments that he is not human. If he has an injunction for anonimity how do these people know about him?

Likely because there was a court case to decide if he should get the SI or not - and the family were there to say why she shouldn't be given a SI.
