A woman tell police that her lover has murdered a young woman.  Then she rings the police and confesses that she helped him; she went on to provide a great deal of evidence and the couple ended up in court and were sentenced to life in jail....After serving 3 years...the investigation was re-opened in a dramatic twist!!!

The end bit on this is very important to take note of....you will find similarities or should I say familiarities  :) :) :)

Hi Caroline :)

What startling about it is that she lied. She lied about her lover committing murder and, she even provided the police with all the evidence.  They believed her! She phoned the police several times with further information that eventually convinced them that her lover had murdered this young girl.

Obviously the police, CPS and judge had all been sucked in by her...They all thought she was a sweet lady...3 years later it was revealed she told a pack of lies to get her lover taken from her and put in a place where he could never be with her......

The lover said at the trail, that he drank frequently and, could not remember killing anyone, but he admitted that sometimes he had blacked out....I think in the end she had even convinced her lover that he had murdered the girl.

What strikes me is the way she did it and, the fact the police were so convinced by her lies.....It was said afterwards that all she told them is what she had heard on the news and what she read in the papers, but just added her little bits too it........

It turns out that the real killer was indeed a serial killer....... :) :) :) :) :)

I know Pattti, it's hard to believe and it makes the police sound like idiots but she convinced a lot of people! She got the info about the jeans from a charge sheet and worked out where the body was found by simple deduction - she was quite clever when you thin about it but what a really shitty thing to do to someone!! Her story (although fantastic) was believable because she had so many details correct - someone else we know didn't have any unique facts and couldn't even get the number of shots on Sheila's throat correct!

I'm sorry,,but the police are unbelievably thick and most gullible at times. Past experiences taught me this.
How on earth they can go by a " strangers " account of who was responsible during a crime,,I don't know.

Hi Lookout, because she knew things that hadn't been released to the press and took them within 10 feet of where the body was recovered. However, she got information from a charge sheet she had to sign and just simply worked out the position of the body from things she over heard.

Hi Patti,,another good author on these subjects is George Skelly. The title is Murderers or Martyrs and tells of an investigation led by the now-discredited,late Herbert Balmer, a detective, whose investigation into two chaps who were known burglars from the Manchester area, and which led to them both being hanged at Walton jail in 1952. Their names were Alfred Burns and Edward Devlin.
This author was also responsible for writing about The Cameo Murders too. He lives in my neck of the woods, but only seems to write about local subjects who've suffered MOJ's,,,,, who have also been exonerated, some posthumously.

See how these cops were fooled by this ordinary lady. They couldn't even work out how she got the "inside" information. Neither did they twig that they gave it to her themselves. I think that the Bamber case has much in common with this case? I had thought to myself once or twice if Bamber was winding Muggy up by telling her a false story about the hit man and various other things and it backfired on him because the stupid woman took him seriously and reacted in the same way as the woman in this video?

Oh, I was under the impression that the book was launched early last year...there are reviews of it...I might be mistaken then and, its a pre order on Amazon....Some are selling it already used.  Or do you mean a promotion exhibiting his book...If he is there Lookout, you could get a signed copy...which will be nice.  :) :) :) :)
