Welcome.
Can I ask you, and forum members in general, if Bamber is guilty would you then support the whole life tarrif for the crimes committed?
Hi Mat
Yes definitely. I do not believe in capital punishment but I do believe in the whole life tarrif in some instances. Such cases are thankfully rare but imo even those such as Rosemary West need to be viewed against her dysfunctional childhood/family and whether or not the perpetrator has some sort of personality disorder/mental illness and of course most importantly whether or not they are still a danger to society and are capable of rehabilitation.
With regard to JB he appears to have had a good life with his adoptive family. His relationship with June might have been somewhat strained but not to the degree that it could be described as dysfunctional or harmful. And no pscychologist has ever found any hint of mental illness/personality disorder so if there was some scientific evidence that could prove beyond reasonable doubt that JB was guilty I say throw away the key. I'm sorry Mat but the three elements that JB was convicted on ie blood in silencer, phone calls and JM's testimony are nowhere near enough for me.
I would think it is rare for a person who grows up in a loving stable family home and without any personality disorder/mental illness to commit a violent crime of the type JB has been found guilty of, especially the shooting of two small boys in bed whilst sound asleep. Most prisons are full of people from broken homes/care system/learning difficulties/mental illnesses/addiction to drink and drugs (I think

) I'm sure JB stands out on the Cat A wing.
