Three sets of stairs

Which of the three sets of staircases did Ralph Bamber, and Sheila Caffell use on the last occasion before thier deaths:-

(X) - the main set of stairs?
(Y) - the spiral kitchen set of stairs?
(Z) - the back set of stairs?

Every time I see the word backstairs reminds me of Backstairs Billy, the Queen Mothers butler and general dogsbody, and the dreadful way he was treated after her death, which led to his own demise,,aww poor Billy.

I know what's coming;we're going to be subjected to the "Police shot Sheila" story again with somehow Sheila escaping detection as she feigns death in the kitchen then runs up one of the aforementioned staircases, appearing as a trick of the light at the window and then miraculously ending up in the master bedroom with no blood trail whatsoever down the front of her nightgown.

That's spot on Steve, you're right about that. She'd changed her clothes prior to that happening though.

Yes and burnt her clothes in the Aga,then turned on taps to wash herself ritualistically removing all traces of lead and gun oil, whilst the Police outside stayed silent about hearing the gush of running water..

No Steve,Sheila soaked her clothing,,,and as for any sound of running water,I very much doubt that it would have been heard outside through foot-thick walls of that farmhouse anyway.

Now I need to know if they were all bolted? I don't think the back door nearest the kitchen was bolted....I think it was the door that accessed the kitchen from the back that was bolted....If this was the case then anyone could have used a key to exit another door by going up the back stairs and across the landing and coming down the main staircase...One didn't need to use a bloody window.  Vic or Hartley would know... :-\ :) :) :) :) :)

I bet Sheila could easily play pac-man with the police in a house that size!

Wasn't the door that accessed the kitchen blocked by Nevill seated in front of it rather than it being bolted?

It still gives 3 doors (plus cellar maybe) for entrance/exit.

But what are we saying here?

Shuffling man, third party, Sheila...?
