« on: November 25, 2012, 03:09:PM »
Mike.......... Apparently Colin Caffell made  a complaint regarding DS Stan Jones and DCI Ainsley.
Do you know what the complaint was,by any chance please?

He complained about his statement being altered! His original hand written statement from 7th Aug 1985 was altered when it was typed out. He complained but was told by Jones to just leave it and not mention it in the witness box.

I think it was that in his statement Colin said something like "I'd had a rough deal from the Bamber Family" and it was changed to (I think) "Jeremy said he's had a rough time from the Bamber family" - Something along those lines anyway.

Jones said it was a clerical error and after being convinced of JB's guilt, Colin just let it go and accepted the clerical error explanation.

Jones said it was a clerical error and after being convinced of JB's guilt, Colin just let it go and accepted the clerical error explanation.

If anybody needed further persuasion regarding this case, that to afford police generous leeway for 'errors' and 'mistakes' is dangerously misguided, surely this is a fine example?

Thats rubbish. Jones was always convinced of Jaremy's guilt.
He even went as far as escorting Mugford to the bank, and being personally making sure all charges against Mugford were dropped. I do wish you would check on FACTS.

I fixed yer quote mate - it's all in the brackets - roch
