Police records show calls made to and from whf, thats the bit of information you all need to focus on for now - this would not have been possible if there was no way of accessing itemised billing records available to Essex police at that time...

The technology available to the police whilst conducting this type of investigation back in August 1985, is a bit like the way police can trace and track mobile phones to pin point a person nowadays - the technology they would use is not widely available to everyone but nevertheless it exists and can be tapped into by the police. This is very similar to the capabilities available to the police back in August 1985, whilst they were investigating these deaths...

The problem is that an itemised bill would only prove that a telephone call was made to Goldhanger Cottage, not that Jeremy was at the other end of the receiver to pick it up.

I was wondering about the reason for the telephone calls to New Zealand and Australia. Would these have been made to Brett Collins by any chance and do they have any bearing whatsoever on the forthcoming murders?

What I do know about calls to Australia in 1985 is that they were £3 a minute, and they were operator assisted through the international exchange.

I would assume that a call would only be registered on pick-up.

No because there's that annoying message that the person you wish to contact is not at home or unavailable and yet you've paid for the call. Of course the younger generation accept these things today as given..

There's a message now but I doubt there was any such message in 1985?

Hi Maggie, I thought not! Also if the calls were measured by meter surely it was only register when the call was answered or you would be paying for just ringing the number?

Handwritten Witness statement of DI Burrell, dated, 13th September 1985:-

Since PC Mill was constantly monitoring the open line link up patched through to the control room using the 999 system, not only would that link be recirded on audio tapes, but he would have been privy to listening to what took place once the raid team entered the farmhouse at 7:30am...

Why has PC Mills witness statement, involving the duties he performed and what he overheard when the raid team found two bodies upon entry to the kitchen, been withheld under pii?

this may seem like a silly question, but for my own clarification if nothing else...
the items that are held under pii, is there a list of such items/statements etc, that are held under pii?
Don't enjoy the cold weather.
