BT were never on the ball in the 80's as I recall. I remember writing and asking them for an itemised bill over a query that I'd  had.
Hi lookout, did you get an itemised bill and can you remember what year that was?

Hi Maggie,yes,it was in 1986.
It was around 1986 that they started replacing the old exchanges with the new digital, so that was a few years too late, you couldn't go back and change that to two years earlier could you lookout? ;D

Yes,Maggie that's when the new system was in place. I will try and think what life was like prior to that,as I'd been with BT since the mid-70's. Would you believe that I might just have an old bill going back that far.? Kept for posterity, you understand.

cannot remember lookout, keep trying to remember if I ever needed to have an itemised bill before then but probably not because I didn't have kids then and that's usually when you start wanting to check your phone bill!!  :o :o :o

I remember itemised billing coming in as standard for business lines in London, that would have been around 1986 or 7 although they may have trialed it earlier. My old boss used to stand in the middle of the room, read out the numbers called and insist that everyone admitted to the calls they'd made in an attempt to humiliate us into not making personal calls. That worked fine until he came across a £100+ call to a premium rate line, which turned out to be his.

BT must have been able to ascertain the calls, otherwise people would have been charged incorrectly. I assume there was some sort of monitor/metered way of telling what time a call was made during the night and day and for how long that call was made....otherwise BT would have charged what they wanted too...

I am convinced they had the technology to be able to tell if a call was made during the night.....If it was a meter reading then surely that said meter would have the relevant data....to provide the information required..  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Like an electricity meter is able to distinguish peak and off peak useage. It won't tell you that you boiled the kettle 6 times at night,or that you work the night shift and don't use any electric during the night. It tells you the total useage, night and day. On an earlier itemissed bill thread you will see links to the BT archive site and some pictures of the meters used to record the useage.
Itemissed bills simply did not exist at the time of the murders at the Maldon exchange.

Here read this, it contradicts what you are trying to say...

Post the reply then mike, the itemissed bills you have...
The only itemissed bills are for the international calls, others simply are not available.

Read the contents of the action report, it confirms that police obtained details of all calls made to and from whf - can you read, or are you deliberately being obstructive?

Yes read it, where is the word 'all'?

Records were not available for local calls, only international, which is why you have tried to convince people that metered call units could prove a call instead.

Can you read or are you being deliberately deceitful and manipulative?

Poor show Mike.
