what he saying does not fit with any of the facts witch makes me wonder why hes saying it.

maybe he honestly thinks that is what did happen.

In his mind he doesn't want to admit he has done anything, he can't it's something he can't come to terms with mentally. He knows he has crossed the line and can't bare thinking about it.  He has probably put it in the back of his mind and it might stay buried there forever, or he may, in one mad attempt reveal all,  to gain some sympathy.....but I doubt it.  I fear if it had not been April, it would have been someone else.  :-\

He had tried to lure a girl home with him after he left parents evening at the school,so he had clearly planned to abduct a child. The extent of the clean up at his home also proves he knew what he had done. He worked at an abattoir and is said to be skilled with knives. A collection of knives were found on his hearth and a charred boning knife was found in his woodburner along with fragments of a childs skull. I can see why he is lying to April's parents in that he can't remember what he did with her body. The truth is obviously too horrific.

I believe he knows exactly what he's done and this whole memory loss rubbish is simply damage limitations. There is no way a jury is going to buy his BS but he's never going to admit fully what he did because he knows what future that would hold for 'him'. His tears are for himself, not for April or her parents - the life of a nonce is no life at all. That's where he's headed whether the coward finally comes clean or not! I think he tried to get the police more interested in the Land Rover because he knew he had abducted her in the grey car - he's too stupid to realise they would check both!!

If he had run her over, her little friend would have said so? I can't understand the situation with the land rover. She was said to have been driven off in a GREY car,and there are cctv images of a grey car in tuffins petrol station. Confused! He clearly killed poor little April quickly. I assume he "disposed" of her in the bath and then burnt her body. Sorry to be graphic, but can only assume this is what happened. I also assume he disposed of the ashes, from the black bin bag he was seen with,in the river. Yes,there were two boxes of cider in his living room, but if you look closely, one of the boxes is still pretty much full. So drunk he couldn't remember? My arse! I predicted he would claim he had a blackout. Sick ba***rd!

Tyler, there are more similarities here with what happened in  the Holly/Jessica case. If you recall, Huntley was transferred to a psych. unit at one point and there were doubts that he would ever get to court. I said at the time that he's suffered(!) a (convenient) psychotic episode. It is possible that both men, when finally the realization hits them, of what they've done, DO experience some kind of psychological trauma. Nevertheless, my heart DOESN'T bleed for them.

Did he abduct her in the grey car then? As the prosecution appear to be focusing on the land rover.

Does he actually have two cars because I have just read the following article and it's a bit confusing. He friend said that she was abducted in a Land Rover but them later a big grey car is mentioned. Are they not one and the same?

They speak of a 'big grey car' that could very well be the same car which is described as a land rover elsewhere.???

That's the way I read it too - the Land Rover looks blue but it could be dark grey.

I thought that the land rover was blue, with grey decals on it. It may be that it is a blue-grey colour as in steel blue or air force blue and that is why April's friend described it as grey. She is only 7 after-all.
