So it turns out that PC Harwood had a complaint of unlawful arrest and abuse of authority filed against him, following a road rage incident. He left the force in 2001 on medical grounds before the complaint was fully investigated. He then rejoined the force in 2004, The Met Police admit that they were aware of the complaint but did not view the whole file. They also conceded that they should not have re employed him.
Had the jury been aware of this incident, I wonder if their verdict would have been the same.
My sister in law was thrown across a railway station by a drunk, off duty policeman. Her arm was shattered and she now has pins holding it together. There were three independent witnesses that all confirmed she was assaulted, I also witnessed the incident. There was CCTV but the tapes could not be found. The Police complaints authority launched an investigation.....bet you can't guess the outcome!
