One other thing- forget the silencer, forget the stage managing of the body, forget the paint from the mantle, forget the figure at the window, forget the conversation with "someone inside the house", forget the phone call to police, forget the family finding things,  forget the jilted girlfriend, forget the phone logs, forget the rifle at the window, in fact forget the lot. Can someone please show me the evidence on which to convict as I can't see any!

That IMO is a major problem. Finding evidence on which to convict is pointless.hes already locked up,job done.
You have to find proof of innocence.Mike has both pieces in his possession Keepers,itemissed phone bills for the local calls from both properties from the two previous months and the picture of SC on the bed with the fatal shot yet to be administered.the latter proves his innocence,the former proves vital evidence that could of proved his innocence was withheld.the former also proves the timings of all calls on that night without the 10 minute mistake,so to speak. Convince Mike,JB is a free man, no doubt.
