Hello
« on: June 30, 2012, 04:13:PM »
Just want to introduce myself before I post on the forum. I want to post in response to some of the posts relating to Luke Mitchell. Dr Sandra Lean has recently posted on this forum which should hopefully ensure that facts about Luke's case are disseminated more widely, and she can also respond to some of the wilder and nonsensical allegations made by some individuals. I feel, however, that some of these posts have been not only hateful and vindictive towards the posters who are concerned about the MOJ that has occurred here, but are simply inaccurate and rely mainly on rubbish published by the gutter press. I don't feel the need to post on forums very often (Sandra and others do a great job) but sometimes people posting from a position of ignorance or intolerance need to be answered by as many people as possible. Most of what I have to say has been said before, many times, so it probably won't impact the long-time Luke haters, but maybe some of the more recent posters might start to think a bit more carefully about miscarriages of justice, how often they happen and how easy it is for them to happen when the establishment decide you're guilty and use all their resources to convince the world you're guilty before you ever see the inside of a court room.

Luke is by no means the only person to have had his life ruined by a MOJ. There are so many sad appalling cases, it is horrifying. I don't expect everyone who comes on to this, or any other forum, to believe that Luke, or anyone else being campaigned for, is innocent but if you are going to read about a case on such a forum, why not try to do so with an open mind. If you don't believe that MOJs happen, and happen frequently, then why not just say so then leave. And why be so filled with hatred, especially those who don't even know the people involved. If you have FACTS which prove there was no MOJ then state what they are, if you have solid evidence that explains all the concerns those campaigning for Luke's (and others) case to be reopened then post it and maybe you will persuade some people to your view. But a blind refusal to accept facts which support the case for Luke's conviction being unsafe, and the attacks on people who dare to question the 'evidence' given by people, even, perhaps especially, the Jones family, does not do your case any good.

Intimidation of anyone who believed that Luke was innocent and being railroaded by the police and the press has been a feature of this case from the beginning but, guess what, it didn't work then and it's still not working. Not only have those of us who were disgusted with the so-called investigation at the time not gone away, there's even more of us now, and that number is continuing to grow.

Welcome to the forum Gerrae. I have been in hospital and have actually had time to catch up with reading Sandra Lean's book "No Smoke" I recommend that folk buy this book and read it themselves. I found it very enlightening and revealing. I didn't realise that there were so many miscarriages of justice. Strangely or perhaps not they all seem to follow the same route. Police corruption, prosecution deceitfulness concerning the way they treat evidence and yes, even stupid judges. Read those cases in Sandra Lean's book and you will see the same traits as in the Bamber case.
