Because all the evidence was not submitted by the police. This is in fact a common habit with the police. They are so intent on getting a conviction once they get a bee in their bonnet about someone that they actually fail to submit all the evidence in their possession. This has come to light recently on several cases of MOJ's.

So a defence team doesnt do any investigation work itself and relies solely upon the evidence supplied by the prosecution? And then subsequently argues against that?

No, it didn't.

The phone in the upstairs office did, but it was only internal memory on that handset.
No. The phone in the kitchen was the phone from upstairs. The kitchen phone had gone for repair. Remember? Also this does not excuse the cops interfering with objects in a crime scene such as making a call from the property which was the crime scene. It is a big misunderstanding that the kitchen phone was the usual phone. It was in fact replaced by the upstairs phone whilst it was being repaired. I though you knew these basic things hartley?

Jeremy's defence teams have been so weak it's unbelievable. I could have done better myself.
If you look at the various links which include the prosecution and defence statements,you'll see for yourself the abysmal contributions.

I'm not sure what investigative work they did. But it is pretty sure that they weren't the best defence team in the world and failed to challenge quite a few things and just took certain things for granted. One of the main reasons that it is looked upon by many as being a miscarriage of justice is that there were literally 1000's of documents including many pictures that were not disclosed to the defence. This cannot be denied.

I had gathered that, especially after some of the things I read in the book. In particular the defence expert who had relied on notes from the prosecution expert to give his evidence. Was shocking.

Going back though. Do u think that it may be possible that those phone records still exist somewhere in BT's records. Do they destroy or archive old records?

Grahame, you are very much mistaken if you think the phone in the kitchen was the digital phone from the upstairs office.

Nice snipe.  ::)

You are correct Hartley. That does not look like a digital phone does it? It appears that I have been misinformed? I stand corrected. I can't post pictures so here's the link.

Seriously Mertol, I don't doubt that you may have been told that, I just doubt that it is true.

I don't think the United Kingdoms involvement in the Cold War and it's alliance with the US would have any bearing on this.

Just my opinion mind.
