the rules are you mustent defend somone you know to be guilty but you dont have to be fully convinced there innocent.

Define "know to be guilty." It.s a little difficult when the law has already FOUND someone -like Jeremy- to be guilty. You seem to be saying that it's simply up to the individual.

We do indeed have to defend people we believe to be guilty.  We can't knowingly solicit false testimony from them.  So if we know they are going to lie on the stand we can't question them. We can't lie or solicit lies but still defend any other way we can including making sure the prosecution proves their case. If someone wants you to perpetrate a fraud then you withdraw.
