The police did not find any (additional) evidence (to the silencer)...

Until Julie Mugford either volunteered or was coerced in to providing it (depending on which police officer you interview for your source and depending on whether you speak to that source prior to or post certain documents having come to light.

Bridget  how could any self respecting person admit to a crime as horrendous as the murders at WHF if they were innocent of such a crime.  It is so important to Jeremy Bamber to clear his name he is looking for a retrial surely with all the that has happened he should at least be granted that just like Mat Fraser in Scotland was through the Supreme Court in London after failed Appeals.

Well if he was guilty I suppose he would take that step. But If I was innocent of a crime like that and had been imprisoned for 27 years I don't think I could lie and say I did it when I had not.

No neither do I, but I wonder if for a guilty person the gamble is - do I continue to protest my innocence in the hope that eventually I find so many 'anomolies' they let me go, or do I confess in the hope that one day they decide I'm safe to be freed. A guilty JB must be somewhere near that point now.

What evidence is there that she was coerced? I've seen the letter in which they agreed not to press charges, but that was dated after she came forward, and also after she gave her witness statements IIRC?

If they were innocent they probably wouldn't. I don't think there would be a retrial, it's been too long. If he is ever successful at Appeal he'll walk, IMHO.

There are a number of documents which have come to light and further info in to the hands of the defence.  I do not think everything has been revealed in the most recent guardian article.  According to Mat's alleged source, 'harsh deal making' took place.  According to Sparkfilms source Julie Mugford came forward from her own volition and volunteered everything.

I have only had sight of the 13 pages of documents which were made public.  I believe the defence have further info re the circs / dynamics of how Julie Mugford became involved with the police and it does not match the official version (surprise surprise as Cilla might say). I do not have access to this info, though I suspect ngb might.  This is the wrong section of the forum to continue this thread in its' current form.

An alternative view is that the original police, current campaigners, many lawyers & legal minds who have taken an interest since, have got it right in their assertions that it wasn't him. As did the Pathologist.  His psychological testing and polygraph testing all indicate this also.  Funnily enough, by some strange quirky coinicdence.

In this alternative view to yours, the family are people who wont take no for an answer.  Wouldn't take no for an answer from the original police.  Won't consider they could be wrong.  Won't question police logs.  They are never wrong, always in the right, always correct.  And they found the silencer that the ballsitics experts have expressed was not used in any sense compatible with the prosecution's argument at trial or since, in relation to Sheila.

All these factors and indicators dont count for anything.  Because at the end of the day, the family are decent people right?  So they must therefore also be in the right?  And they must therefore be totally correct in their own self assured assertions that they couldn't possibly be wrong.

We could have saved millions of pounds here, if we had just convened a panel of (never in the wrong) family members to try Jeremy bamber.
Brilliant post, rochy! :D :D :D

Hi Bridget, I agree with your comment. From my point of view would love a re-trial....Although i don't believe Jeremy pulled a trigger that night, I have trouble coming to terms with the fact Shelia might have. This us why I am trying to find out what could have happened that night. Although, I doubt anyone will ever know....:)
