Inferring the reliability of lie detector tests from one example?
Sorry - but that's completely scientifically invalid.

Am surprised Smiffy hasn't had anything to say on this thread given what I've read elsewhere.

I am furious with Adrian Prout for several reasons and I hope that if he had already recieved his tariff that they will slap another 20 years on to it.

This case, was built on circumstantial evidence, no forensic evidence, no crime scene, no body.  I can understand why there was so much support for him within miscarriage of justice organisations and internet forums.  He also had loyal support from his family and friends.  This was not misplaced loyalty, they genuinely believed he was innocent, and as a member of the general public from what I had read on the information available, so did I, and there was many others like me who felt he was innocent or didnt recieve a fair trial.  He has let each and every one of them down.  I feel heart sorry for his family and close friends who campaigned for him, as they must be devastated by this news.

From what is now known, Adrian Prout claiming to be a miscarriage of justice victim in my opinion he has done so much damage to genuine miscarriage of justice cases,  but I doubt he will give that a second thought.  He has given no thought to anyone apart from himself. How will his daughter who worked tiredlessy to prove her dad was innocent be able to cope?  He has destroyed her life, and that of his fiancee and baby daughter.  I hope he has many years ahead of him to reflect on the damage he has done.  Not only did he take someone else's life, he continued to destroy lives after the event.  There are many victims in this mess which he created.

His admission of guilt and the willingness to show where Kate is buried, will be a relief for Kate's family and allow them to give her a proper burial, and start the grieving process which he had denied them of.  What I find unforgiveable is that he left Kate where she was for all this time, knowing where she was for all this time, and in this time (beofe he was convicted) progressed to another relationship and created another life, after taking the life of another.

From what I have managed to read it was the babys mother, that pushed for him to get the lie detector test done in the prison, she made the contact, she arranged and paid for it, poor girl was convinced, as did others that it would prove his innocence, that is how much she believed in him.  On the day of the test, initially he refused to take it, then changed his mind and said he would do it for her.  From what I gather he made an admission to her and she went to the police with the information.  She must be heart broken, but she done the right thing going to the police and also by helping Kate Prouts family find their loved one's remains.

I hope that Kate is found very soon.

I would guess it's impractical to reliably search 276 acres.
