Forum crashes
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:20:AM »
Hi all...

Hope all is well...

Forum went down twice yesterday.  First time, message related to not being able to locate or connect to remote server.  Second time, message related to forum having crashed and needing repair.  Is this a normal occurrence every now and then?

Roch.

Cliff, I have known it to be unavailable before.  I suppose all sites do this at some point.  For example Facebook etc.  Maybe I have answered my own question.

There is nothing suspicious about it. It happens quite frequently on my old forum. Luckily we have some smart bods who can fix it. On this occasion it was a database fault. I can remember on my own forum one time a server blew up in the building where it was housed. cops everywhere because they thought it was terrorists. But no such fun on this occasion I promise. So no smart bod hacking into the database. It is a computer program and things do go wrong.
