.22 Air Rifle possibly used in shootings handed to witness from prison

My attempts to find out what happened to the .22 Air rifle which was potentially used in the shootings at whf, led to the discovery that this had been sent into prison for storage in Jeremy's name, but that he handed it out to someone in the Brentwood area of Essex:-

It still remains possible that this .22 air rifle could contain vital DNA evidence to establish its use in the shootings at whf on the night in question...

It still remains possible that there was some red paint ingrained into the barrel of this air rifle, and this was the guh that DS Davidson was referring to, when he spoke to COLP in 1991, about the reasons for the paint sample (RC/1) being taken from the scene, on 8th August 1985?

It is still possible to confirm that the silencer which has been used to help convict Jeremy, was fitted to the barrel of this .22 air rifle, since vital DNA evidence belonging to Sheila could still be found on the external thread on the end of the guns barrel, on the part which screws to the inverted thread inside the silencer. If, for example, the .22 air rifle was seized and examined for DNA and some of Sheila's DNA was found on the external thread of its barrel that matched the DNA of Sheila, it would be a perfect match and help link the blood contaminated silencer to the .22 air rifle, and help to confirm that the non fatal wound was inflicted to the side of Sheila's neck by use of the .22 air rifle, not the .22 semi-automatic rifle?

The .22 Air rifle which was possibly used by Sheila in the shootings, was handed out to a Miss Kozul, by Jeremy, with permission of the prison service, on the 20th March 1996...

DNA profiling was not used in this case (silencer) until 2000, and so this .22 air rifle has so far not yet been tested, although there was /is a strong likelihood that it was or may have been used in the shootings along with the crucial silencer...

This .22 air rifle needs seizing and examining for the presence of blood, paint and DNA, with a view to seeing if it can be linked to any of the murders, and in particular, the blood/paint contaminated silencer...

Essex police seized this .22 air rifle as part of their original investigation, but handed it back to the relatives...

Jeremy recovered it back from the relatives on 12th or 13th August 1985, along with the 12 bore shotgun, which the relatives had removed from WHF without his permission......

Essex police seized the 12 bore shotgun, and this .22 Air rifle, and fingerprinted them both as part of their first investigation (SC/688/85)...

A number of fingerprints were found upon the barrels of both...

We know that the fingerprints of Ralph and Sheila's were found on the shotgun, but Essex police have never disclosed who's fingerprints were found on the .22 air rifle...

I believe that the discovery of fingerorints on the barrel of the .22 air rifle to be a significant discovery and that these included those of Ralph, Sheila and June Bamber...

Mike, was it one of the relatives that sent the rifle to Jeremy in prison?  What happened to the shotgun?  Did Jeremy request that the rifle was sent to him?  Does the person that the rifle was sent too, also have the shotgun?  When there was a gun amnesty would the person holding these guns possibly have handed them over to the police?

Why on earth would Jeremy lend the rifle out to anyone?? Surely he was aware by 1996 of it's potential significance in his case. And why have you had to dig this up, why has Jeremy not mentioned this before now?

Jeremy did not regard the air rifle as having any significance.  Since it was his property and was not a case exhibit the police were required to return it to him.  Obviously he could not have the air rifle in prison so he had to nominate somebody else to receive it.

What so a firearm that was present in the property of a multiple death scenario of which he is trying to prove his innocence is of no significance? Strange.

Relatives seized and took possession of the .22 air rifle from the scene, and the same time they purport to have found the silencer, yet although they handed the .22 air rifle back to Jeremy on and by the evening of I think the 12th August 1985, the relatives purportedly retained possession of the silencer, even though if it had been missing from whf by that stage, Jeremy would have known about it, and he would have asked them to return it in the same way he asked them to return the .22 air rifle and the 12 bore shotgun...

Jeremy did not ask the relatives for the silencer back by 12th August 1985, because it was not missing from the scene by that stage, it was still in storage inside the gun cupboard where the relatives did not take possession of it until 11th September 19085....
