i doubt if he was expecting a fox to come in his bedroom.
He'd get a good shot from his bedroom window though?

Haha, yes assuming he didn't mind waking the entire house up.

Does anybody work on a farm? Are foxes that much of a problem that you would keep a loaded shotgun under your bed just in case?

Foxes are a problem and farmers try to control them.  Normally they are shot using a high powered rifle but Nevill's Anschutz rifle was only a .22 rimfire which is not normally used for fox control.  It is therefore likely that he used a 12 bore shotgun which is effective against foxes at relatively close range.  It is a bit unusual to keep a shotgun under the bed for fox control.  It would be possible to shoot a fox from the bedroom window but that would awaken everyone in the house and I find it a bit unlikely.  If a loaded shotgun was kept by Nevill under his bed I suspect it was more likely to have been there for protection.

On the night of the shootings the shotgun was not under Nevill's bed.  It was found in the cupboard downstairs according to the police witnesses. There is a photograph of it posted on this forum showing the gun leaning against a wall which is where the police placed it after finding it.

And those of us who are cynical may think how nicely that shotgun is photographed but the cupboard contents are not! As though it was important to have the shotgun photographed where the police put it and want us to think it was nicely down in the gun cupboard.

Okay that makes sense to me. Thanks.

It's this photo you are referring to I'm guessing?

i just thought could the injuries to Nevile bamber have been caused not by him try take a gun of his attacker but by his attacker trying to take the shotgun of him.

Am I right in thinking that was the shotgun with Sheila's fingerprint on it.
Now when did the police take the shotgun away and get it fingerprinted?
Do we not have an issue as well with who was in possession of the shotgun with a police officer supposedly taking it from whf but also DB claiming to have taken it from whf on the 10th when he claimed to take other things it seems very doubtful he took that day.

well i cant see a policeman takeing the shotgun from under his bed and putting it in his cupboard witch would suggest to me that he did take it down stairs with him that night but somehow got separated from it.

That's possible. Or it was never under his bed to start with.

Perhaps it was never kept there (I can't seem to find a source suggesting it was), or it was kept under his bed but temporarily moved to the gun cupboard whilst the twins were staying?

as the shotgun wasnt the murder weapon i cant see any reason to have it fingerprinted.

Unless something else has been posted to corroborate that which I haven't seen, it doesn't seem to be based on any evidence.

I've been reading like you said. The last couple of pages in this thread refer to this shotgun and fingerprints which cannot apparently be proven.

i cant see why they would take fingerprints from a weapon that wasn't used in the murder what would be the point.

Steve  -  Mike Tesko has a detailed knowledge of the evidence in this case and he has in his possession a very large number of documents relating to the case.  As you have seen Mike has posted details about the fingerprints and I see no reason to doubt what Mike has said on this.  I do not always agree with the theories Mike advances but when it comes to factual points about the evidence I believe what he says.

Yes sorry, I just meant that there didn't appear to be documents posted on this forum which corroborated the statement.

There seems to be many unsupported claims, it's difficult to pick out the legitimate ones.

As Sheila had only been at whf a few days the chances on an innocent explanation for her fingerprint on the shotgun are low. It shows a possible interest in firearms or movement of that firearm which could pass as adding to circumstantial evidence supporting Sheila as the killer. Either as her visiting the gun cupboard or getting the shotgun from under the bed etc.
It is not critical but in an otherwise  circumstantial case it would go against her and thus could be used to add weight to JB or others innocence.

I've said this before, but the statement from a neighbour, Smith, states that he heard a shotgun being fired around 9.30pm on 6 August.  Maybe Sheila had got hold of this gun earlier and Nevill took it from her and put it in the downstairs gun cupboard, hence it had her fingerprints on it?
