I don't have any personal experience with the police other than 3 x SP30's over many years. I guess I have always seen them as a bit thuggish and thick. I know WC appeared plausible but I still think I would not have been compliant. Time was getting on, it was dark and cold. I would have been keen to keep on walking at pace to get home without any disruption and would not have taken kindly to what I would have considered unnecessary interference.
do you think a 65% moon would have provided no light?
Not enough to cycle in on a rough track.
Pages Lane is a road for vehicles. The Sea Wall is a cycle/foot path. Both in open areas. ILB even thinks there are 3.00am BBQ's on The Sea Wall !
In 1985 it was a rough track, one wrong move and you would be in the sea if cycling fast.
A rough track in 1985. So thar is why Wilkinson said the terrain was good.
I's good if you do it in daylight, locals at the time said the track was so rough they were surprised Bamber never got a puncture.
Be very unlucky to get a puncture in a one off cycle ride round trip of 8.4 miles. Pages Lane is a road & The Sea Wall is a foot/cycle path. I have been cycling off and on since I was 6. Had about 5 punctures.
Do you think if he'd had a puncture he'd have been unable to continue on foot?
So thar is why Wilkinson said the terrain was good.
Really need a supporter to go to The Sea Wall at night. In August. Then post video footage. Surprised no one has in 41 years. Or maybe they have but didn't want to post video footage. .
