If it happened earlier Jane how much earlier? Hours, days?

I have known people to have a black eye after having a tooth removed.

JB claims to have seen it at supper -"a really swollen eye like someone had thumped her"- surely she'd have said had it resulted from a tooth extraction? JB would have been highly unlikely to have admitted to it, rather used it as another opportunity to lay it at Sheila's door. As I said in an earlier post, there have been no claims, other than JB's, of Sheila doing physical violence to anyone save herself. It also follows that it's been claimed by most of those who interacted with her, prior to the massacre, that she was listless and lethargic.

No but people feared for their safety when Sheila was having a downturn. She became uncontrollable etc.

Well Freddy did! But did she attempt to touch him? Not according to him. My guess is that during her episodes she was too scared/terrified of everyone to go near them.

And naturally, one can't rule out the possibility of a fight with Jeremy.

JB wasn't accused of causing a black eye. He wasn't accused of bruising June's chin. Nor of causing swipe marks on her throat.

JB has been persecuted since 1985.

Why would that rule him out from being guilty of any of the above?

Why did they not accuse him of causing the marks on June's throat, which Zoso said looked like they may have been caused by a gloved hand? Especially since he was known to have no marks on his hands?

Re the black eye, I'm not sure what you mean. When do you think he could have caused it?

Because it appears to have been overlooked, I'm interested to know more about it. According to JB, June was 'cagey' about it -but I'm highly suspicious of anything JB says which has no verification- and JB's relationship with her was no less acrimonious than Sheila's and nothing anyone says will cause me to believe Sheila threw punches.

Sorry can you just confirm, which bit/s do you think were overlooked?

Had Nevill and June had a domestic?

You never know what goes on behind closed doors. I have seen domestic violence in couples that on the face of it are the picture ofcmarital bliss. You can never rely on third party information to get a true picture of what happens in a relationship/ marriage.

It's not farfetched.

Can't imagine that. Nevill was a gentleman with strong values. He would have towered over June.

Neither can I, but ILB is correct in that we can never know what goes on behind doors -including the grand ones!- in any relationship.

I was referring to June's black eye being overlooked.

I have always believed Nevill was a good strong gentleman with good values. And even if what I am suggesting as a possiblity is true. He would still be that good strong gentleman. Everyman on God's green earth has his breaking point in life.

I do not condone any domestic violence at all. However it's not always done on the basis of the " cowering partner, bully partner " theme. We are all capable to be pushed to some kind of breaking point which can result in any type of domestic violent act.

Can you imagine the stress this bloke was under on a day to day  basis?

He had a daughter with mental illness, a wife with mental illness and religious mania, Jeremy who was pain in the arse at times, juggled with running a business, surviving on a small amount of sleep and working 14 hour days whilst doing other activities in the community.  Not a young man either, he was 61.

I have seen and grown up with " happy families on the surface, behind closed doors"

Who knows what caused it, we will never know for certain!

Good, balanced post.
