Kemi Badenoch
« on: October 18, 2024, 06:09:PM »
I'm very impressed with this woman of Nigerian extraction, the MP for North West Essex, who will cut out the prevailing wokeness in the country and get it back on track. She outshone her main challenger for the Tory leadership, Robert Jenrick, in the debate you can watch here: https://youtu.be/sFfespuwg6g

She is married to Hamish and has three children: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/19183786/who-kemi-badenochs-husband-hamish/

I sometimes wonder what would have been, if David Miliband had applied for the labour leadership, instead of Ed.

Might we have avoided the Tory government that followed the Con/Lib coalition?  What else might we have avoided since then?

It's possible he may have caught the public mood, but unlikely. https://youtu.be/1ZTG8kLr-0U

Did he put the country first, or himself..https://youtu.be/ecGNGiXR7HM

I think he was the heir apparent to Blair/Brown. He had more gravitas than brother, Ed Dulliband.  Image and presentation does matter in politics.  Ed will never shake-off his Wallis and Gromit type persona.  I think his interference condemned us to a decade of horrific Tory mismanagement in virtually every sphere of UK life.

I am biased somewhat, as Dave was our MP for a while.

Our current MP sounds thick as mince. She reminds me of Sarah Milican, who to be fair, is a more natural performer.

Wasn't there a moment at the Labour Party Conference where he held up a banana, I seem to recall? I couldn't take either of the brothers seriously, but then, Labour are always good at spending taxpayers' money. As far as MPs in general is concerned, I'm annoyed at the latest freebie revelations (holidays, use of accommodation, clothes). I've always had to buy my own clothing for my job so why should MPs be any different? It seems they have learned nothing from the 2009 expenses scandal.

They have no shame Steve. Greedy and a sense of entitlement. The who lot needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from the bottom up.

Very unlikely she will be leader of the opposition by the next general election.

It's far more likely that she will be PM.

She will understand the needs of business. Starmer and Reeves haven't got a clue. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2384kv05x5o

Hasn't she been part of the problem? What the UK needs is bespoke politics from both right and left, across the spectrum of issues we face. The political system in the UK cannot provide this. It is a dead parrot 🦜.

I would dismantle the current parties and begin from scratch. UK population should be able to vote on what policies they want, rather than which dogmatic political party they think is the least worse option for the next five years.

This would work.  Most people would vote against supporting a country committing genocide and ethnic cleaning, if given the chance. At the same time, most people would support massively tighter border controls if given the chance. Thus.. both left and right are heard and their will  is actioned. This is the way forward to solving UK problems. This is just one example there are likely many, many others. This would help the electorate find common ground, rather than the deliberately instigated polarisation that we constantly have to live to.  Engage the people in debate around actual policies. Encourage people to be educated about the myths they have been sold and taken for granted. Then we will get informed decision making rather than polarised dogma.
