Yes, I recall what the judge said. I was thinking whether he buried the clothes he wore to commit the murder on the return journey or burned them in the Aga. On second thoughts there were specks of blood detected on clothing in the wardrobe at Bourtree Cottage, so he may not have discarded apparel at all.

CAL says -

'After showering, he changed into new clothes from his old bedroom, pushing the others into a bag for disposal later'.

----------

The showering, clothes washing & changing could have been done at WHF or Goldhanger.

I believe he did these at Goldhanger.

Once the clothes were washed & hanging up, that was sufficient in 1985.

I am leaning towards Bamber using the field pathway that adjoins Head Street & Fish Street to get to the Sea Wall entrance.

RB mentions this so believes it possible.

Julie testified he planned to cycle the Sea Wall. No point doing this to avoid properties, then cycling past multiple properties on Head/Fish Street.

Think that is the only option regards to the Sea Wall from the road.

I disagree with you on the Sea Wall route for reasons previously stated. You think it's gospel. That's fine

Trekking over five fields at 2am just isn't feasible

De Ath, claims the route is heavily populated.

Is this true? or is De Ath as Adam stated " one of bambers batty old dears bullshitting?

The prosecution route going past Wycke Farm I would cycle. For reasons stated earlier in this thread. Although would prefer to turn off onto the earlier farm track.

CAL's route I would not cycle. As it passes too many properties.

Might be useful to know what she means by "heavily populated", as opposed to what you take it to mean?

Jane, no doubt she will have uncle Tom Cobley et al as lining the route.

I don't believe driving past properties is a risk, on the road route.

The bike is more risky than the car ID at that hour.

At most someone looking out a window will just have a fleeting glance. They won't memorise the reg number, or have an idea of the make and model of the car.

With a bike it's a clear chance of an ID. " male, in his early twenties " is suffice.

Self explanatory, even for an Essex girl  :)

Well, unless she patrolled the seawall morning, noon and night, how would she know?

Experience,

It may be better to ask De Ath her self.

The Sea Wall route passes no properties.

Fish Street & Head Street adjoin each other.

They both back onto the same field.

No 5 fields.

The caravan site she went to was 5 miles from Bamber's cycle route.
