However phoning Julie at or before 3am & then the police at 3.26am was really pushing it. Espescially as he then said Nevill called him 'around 3.10am'. 

Seems he knew or at the least believed landline calls could not be tracked. While simultaneously believing he would not be a suspect anyway.

This is suggesting he phoned his AM. As he cut the call from WHF.

The long gap between doing this, cycling back, ringing Julie at or before 3am before finally ringing the police, shows he was taking a big risk if the time of his WHF call could be determined.
