Why is cycling up a hill in darkness any different to cycling on flat surface?
The only reason he would not cycle up a hill is if it was too steep.
I doubt there was a hill. Fish Street & Church Street are opposite and are flat.
Okay. I've walked UP onto the sea wall in places, from Heybridge to Tollesbury. Access isn't always across fields, but the land is below sea level. At Goldhanger the paths I've mentioned have required walking/cycling across a field, at the end of which have been conveniently placed steps, without which, access, up the steeply raked slope, with a bike, would be difficult.
