If you look at one of the case file photo's, you can see Neville's hair flow down over the Coal Scuttle?  As it's been discussed numerous times, maybe at first glance it looked like a female?  Who knows.

I agree, it doesn't matter what expert or theory they bring in regarding AGA burns, it will be very hard to get past the position the police found him in.
