I think maybe Jeremy looked down upon Shelia.

He had a car, a job, he was more confident than shelia. Shelia had mental health problems, couldn't keep a job etc et al.

That's possible, and he is on record from prison commenting that he didn't understand Sheila's illness. Nothing wrong with that, but it still doesn't shed light on what they were discussing in the field or why she wrote the remorseful comment in her diary.

Why not just say there was no conversation between them? Is it because he knew they were both being observed by one or more of the farm employees?

Maybe it wasn't a happy meeting between JB and Sheila in the field,maybe they did argue even,so obviously JB may have thought it better to say no comment.

Now you could say,why didn't he just make up a story in his favour instead? What was to stop him,Sheila wasn't around anymore.?
