A couple of years ago or so, it was mentioned that there were (I think) 14 statements provided to police that never saw the light of day. So they cannot be damning towards JB, otherwise we would know about them and Steve would be all over them.

I'm not sure how character references can be useful in family annihilator trials. Even the statements which were withheld (from Sue Ford, Brett Collins, Rodney Brown, Virginia Greaves) did not shed any light on Jeremy's relationship with Nevill and June.

From one of the books Brett was bobbing up and down excitedly in the back of the police car on the way down to Chelmsford and it was deduced there and then that nothing of evidentiary value could be gained from questioning him.

I doubt there were any. Julie told Jeremy she wanted to leave, though was still in love, some may say besotted with the character. Jeremy replied he still needed her, which is why they remained together in the immediate aftermath. Julie was not given a key to Moreshead Mansions, but was left waiting on the doorstep one Wednesday afternoon for Jeremy and Brett to return from their latest caper. Julie foresaw the implications of the knowledge she held, though reluctant to disclose lest he landed in prison. Jeremy carried on regardless, the murders seemingly not affecting his activities in the slightest: it was Julie who held the guilt inside, repressed for the moment, but guilt held for the two of them.
