I wonder from whom he received the information? Might it not suggest that he didn't buy into the "Sheila did it" theory? I think we can guarantee it to have been post murders because he wasn't in the country at the time. If, as I suspect, it had come from JB, why, when he'd convinced police that Sheila was capable and 'dressed' the scene in such a way to suggest such, would he put forward the squaddie theory, if not to deflect attention from himself.
Mmm,not sure Jane, what you claim only makes sense if JB told Brett about the squaddie hitman in a confession.
Yet,Brett has never said that JB confessed to the killings.
Dont think JB would have been the one to mention the squaddie theory to Brett.
Will watch 'The Bambers;murder at the farm' again and see what Brett said.
Episode 4 is on tonight at 11.00 o'clock on Sky freeview channel 151 Sky MixHD. I have only seen that episode up until now. The other episodes will no doubt be repeated again soon. I only have Sky Freeview so haven't seen the series up until now, only snippets that members have posted.
Have you seen the series Jane?

Yes, Snow, I have. I don't think it was entirely accurate -although I can't recall what, in particular- and whilst 'enjoyable' isn't exactly the right word, it held me. I though Fox's portrayal of JB was good, and the actor who played Sheila was excellent. The guy who played Taff came pretty close to what those I know, have said of him. I hope you find it interesting, if nothing else. I might even record it if I remember.

Brett may have been voicing his own opinion, but why would a New Zealander, with scant knowledge of the area, latch on to a squaddie theory? 'Course, it's possible that he and JB, given the rumours about them, had done a bit of 'slumming'?

Snow means this Louis Theroux documentary series, Jane, not the Freddie Fox drama -

I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and furballs.

Yes,thats true HB.
Personally I think the CT should concentrate on the Aga evidence and keep it seperate from the police moving Nevill.
If they have merely included the Aga evidence with crime scene manipulation it may be dismissed along with that point.
But yes,I am half in half out with the CT scenario, but 100% in with the Aga evidence.
Not possible Snow, how do they navigate to Neville being found dead in the chair?  Maybe you should pass your idea on to them Snow.

Is this the series in which Colin Caffell was involved? Is it available online for free (I assume not)?

No, when the Freddie Fox drama was shown in 2020, and on which CC advised, he had had enough of the blanket coverage of the Bamber case and declined to take part in Theroux's 2021 documentary.

Sheila was effectively on trial but with withheld evidence so that the blame could only be pointed away from her, towards Jeremy , who was actually ON TRIAL. Sheila was on trial by being the only other person who could have committed the killings. Sheila was on trial in the back of the jury's minds.

And yet Bamber was found guilty! That's because HE was the one on trial and NOT Sheila.

The doc is on now.

Said when the case was referred to the COA in 2001, Operation Stokechurch simultaneously spent 16 months investigating EP's handling of the case. Full time. Which was requested  by EP themselves.

The COA dismissal together with Stokechurch clearing EP resulted in everyone in 2002 saying his guilt is conclusive.

The woman who headed Stokechurch said there is no doubt of Bamber's guilt.

However the internet was emerging.
