Councils putting up CT a lot may back fire.

There is already billions of unpaid CT. People believe other bills are more important. There are already new TikTok videos saying how to avoid paying.

Will just end up in court with charges added on.

Jail at a last resort.

There has been somewhat of a backlash in my city ( which is primarily a labour stronghold) over the Winter fuel.

I live in Sheffield and many people are struggling.

A good friend of mine earns the " living wage" divorced and is renting a one bedroom flat at a silly price Once utilities are paid he has nothing. His savings completely dwindled. He's contemplating moving back with his elderly mother.

Even my business is beginning to suffer as people can not afford the prices and it takes a back seat as a cosmetic when compared to important bills etc. I reckon I will probably shut in the next 12 months and go and do something else.

What do you do if you don't mind me asking?

I think the whole country -even some dyed in the wool Blues! although they'd never admit it- wanted change, but I doubt that even the most committed Reds wanted the changes that have been heaped on us thus far.

The UK will never function properly until we have a bespoke political set up that meets our needs. Some answers to problems come from the left and some answers to problems come from the right. Thus I believe we need both left and right working in tandem for the good of the nation. Our politics is too immature and outdated to provide this.

Correct me if I am wrong but are you a staunch tory?

Haha! ILB, I'm not staunch anything!! I'm critical of both major parties -although I give praise to either, IF and when such occurs!- and I'm inclined to think that most politicians are corrupt. Each time I've voted for either party -going on pre-election promises- I've felt disappointed and let down, not to mention CONNED!!! Guess you could say I'm middle of the road?

I think I may be the same. Although largely apolitical to be frank.

Paternal grandfather was a staunch thatcherite in the 80s.

The problem is the Tories were just as guilty. Remember the Downing Street wallpaper?

God bless David Starkey.  Incisive and overflowing with common sense.
I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and furballs.
