If it happened then why does the position of the bullet cases appear wrong, if you said Nevil was shot with the barrel of the rifle three or four feet away I would be more happy?

In a 12'x12' room it's not difficult to be close enough to shoot  It wasn't exactly a shooting range.

Steve thinks that June was shot in the head while propped up in bed and she managed to get out of bed and move around, leaving a blood trail at the front of the bed.

How is it that June leaves blood but not Nevill?
