The Jeremy Bamber TikTok Archives
« on: December 30, 2021, 08:49:AM »
I'm not on social media myself and have no wish to be, but my daughter has sent me links to the Jeremy Bamber presence on something called TikTok.

What TikTok is will always elude me.  I am strictly of the Web 1.0/BBC Micro generation, which now seems ancient, like wooden gramophones, but from what I can make of it, it seems to be to YouTube what Twitter is to Facebook.  In other words, it seems to be a platform for micro-vlogging.  No doubt that's wrong and a cleverer/more up-to-date person will come along and correct me.

Here I offer you a sample - only a sample - of the Jeremy Bamber presence on TikTok.  Make of it what you will, but it forms part of the wider case documentation nonetheless, at least in respect of social commentary and critique.  Add more or comment as you please.

I, for one, make no comment here on the subject-matter covered: whether the claims are fair or accurate and so on.  I will only comment on the production values and the likely efficacy of the strategy.  My personal view is that this work is very well done and is likely to be effective in helping penetrate Jeremy's counter-narrative into the mainstream.  So there you are.

I don't propose for this thread to become a full compendium of Jeremy Bamber's corpus on TikTok, but it might.  The obstacle is that I don't have a TikTok account and frankly don't want one.  I'll leave it to the younger generations.

Yet I do have a wider concern in that vein: I do wonder if this increasing concision in information helps or hinders comprehension.  There is something to be said for sitting down to read a long and difficult book or missive, whether it is a Wilkie Collins classic or a Shakespearean play or a detailed forensic report uploaded on to the Forum by Mike.  This is especially important if it is something you don't - maybe can't - understand and that calls out to you as a challenge to the intellect.  Concision and simplification may point the way to an unpleasant climate in which thoughtfulness, reflection and objectivity are supplanted by intellectual tribalism and a sense of 'knowing it all' about subjects or controversies that are actually a bit more complicated than they appear.

I will only say that is a very interesting choice.  It may be safest to add no more.

I just love Wilkie Collins, along with Dickens and Buchan.  Can't get enough of them.  I could write volumes of critiques on them.  I think Collins and Dickens were the 'Shakespeares' of the English novel.  Nothing like their kind will be seen again.  Everybody else is playing catch-up.

I should probably offer a topical review of Moonstone on here, but whether that would go down well is another matter.  This Forum is starting to feel a bit like Anthony Burgess' dystopia.

For some reason, I always remember Mr Murthwaite - who may have been the solicitor. Anyway, let's not drag this any further off topic.

Desperate times for the CT! But I wouldn't expect anything better. You don't need to be on TikTok to watch. I am not and I did. Most of the "description heading" does not even match the content, in other words clickbait! Small snippets to make it Viral, I think that's what they are called but unfortunately even struggles to get 50 views in a platform of 900 million active users in 40 languages let alone getting Viral. But not to worry no harm in dreaming big.

I hope you havnt missed the two videos involving a child. It's one thing what an adult  believes whether that be innocent or guilty but it's highly disturbing imo to involve a child and make the child say things she has no clue about! it's nothing but to gain sympathy but desperation makes people do anything especially on tiktok!

Reminds me of Bake off,  graveside reading, merchandise, the list goes on.....

In your opinion
Julie Mugford the main prosecution witness was guilty of numerous crimes, 13 separate cheque frauds, robbery, and drug dealing and also making a deal with a national newspaper before trial that if she could convince a jury her ex boyfriend was guilty of five murders she would receive £25,000

Of course anything that gets the case out to more people. Especially as Tik Tok is a worldwide phenomenon and highlights the criminal background of the main prosecution witness Julie Mugford
I would like to see much more on the site relating to Sheila’s illness

I think people forget the CT are volunteers. They come in for a lot of stick, which in some cases may be justifiable. However, the stick seems to be used as a club to dismiss every single thing they do; every bit of research or liaison; when in fact, much of what they do isn't known and is probably only known by the legal team.

Calm down! Why always in an attack mode? Always on defence?  You sound angry. I didn't say you were all stupid.

"Same old Lookout, so boring"

I agree with you here Jackie! .Same old and boring. Who would know better than you! Bound to be when you are hanging in a forum for 10 plus years and there is nothing new in the case. One must repeat and hear the same thing and it does get  boring. I am already bored here after only few posts and comments so don't blame you. I actually salute your "patience" which to me  is evident from your comments. Your frustration on Julie Mugford is pathetic, so obvious. Jane puts you in your place. I love reading it 😂
