Police interviews - The real Bamber in 1985:
« on: September 08, 2021, 03:03:PM »
Bamber would have no idea records of his police interviews would be available to the public decades later.

They are very damaging to him, treating the case with contempt.  He is very evasive, unhelpful & does not dispute facts put to him.

The OS has nothing on the police interviews. Do not believe the CT have ever mentioned it.

Stan Jones believes if the interviews had been taped, Bamber would have confessed. This I do not agree with.

There is nothing damaging in those police interviews. Hence the prosecution never used anything from them against him.

The best you can do is distort the contents and hope nobody actually reads them.

Over 30 'No comments' & 'can't remembers'. Over 10 -don't knows' & 'can't say'.

Several one word answers as well as vague answers such as 'not really', 'I think so'  & 'less than 40 but more than 10 !'

The police had to often ask the same simple questions several times in order to get a straight answer.

He initially said he phoned Julie before the police & could not remember what they spoke about at 3am. He eventually said Julie was phoned after the police phone call.

He suggested the dog fired the second shot at Sheila

He also suggested Nevill said 'She', not 'Sheila' !

He didn't dispute that Sheila could not have shot herself twice.

He also said he knew how to get into & exit WHF through windows. Although denied he knew how to bang shut the kitchen window.

Julie must have made a wild guess on that.

Thanks for proving my point, just grasping at straws.

Or Ann Eaton told her. After all the kitchen window was Ann Eaton's idea.

That must be it. AE rang Bamber's girlfriend & told her.

Bamber couldn't remember what he spoke to Julie about. Although he had rang her at 10pm.

His comment on his 3am call was....'no comment'.

I know you've read his police interviews.

Why do you think Bamber was so unhelpful?

I have not read them all but I have not seen anything I would regard as damaging, and as David said if JB did say something damaging I think the police would have jumped all over it at trial.

He would have been under immense pressure accused of five murders, and he probably suspected the police were trying to stich him up (bible on table) etc.

Why would Bamber suspect the police stitching him up? The police are the ones who told him Sheila killed herself and the family. Bamber was only questioned because of what Julie was now saying and that was put to him.

I thought JB had become suspicious when Junes bible had been put on the table during one interview and did not touch it?

You thought wrong.

The bible was discussed in the police interview.
